ABOUT

Motivated by my academic career focused on the impact of technology on society, culture, and identity, I turned to screenwriting after the pandemic to explore the ways people strive to find themselves within a chaotic world—focusing especially on the inspiring lives of outsiders who have been historically overlooked.
A recent graduate of the UCLA Professional Screenwriting Program, I have written three spec scripts, 2 of which have scored 8’s on the Blacklist: May Bell and Vice Versa. I have also placed QF and above in several competitions, including Final Draft Big Break, Austin Film Festival, Creative Screenwriting, and Emerging Screenwriters.
Thematically, my screenplays are linked by a focus on the multi-faceted lives and identities of people as they pursue pivotal creative endeavors. Whether inventing the telephone to find an identity, or making a magazine to invent one, my work explores how these journeys of self-discovery and community building are shaped by the interplay of personal, socio-cultural, and technological forces.
Prior to pursuing screenwriting full-time, I was a scholar of queer media theory and responsible tech innovation with a PhD in English Literature from the University of Waterloo and was the research associate for the University of Waterloo’s Council for Responsible Innovation and Technology.
No stranger to sharing my ideas, I have presented work at over 35 international conferences and published articles for a variety of audiences--on topics including queer rhetoric, new media and tech ethics.
The stories of resilience and ingenuity I will continue to tell are meant as timely reminders of the ways we can harness technology and our creativity to make a more meaningfully connected and inclusive future.
